This Privacy Policy explains how Tano ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile and web application. Tano is developed by Alok Maurya. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.

§ 01 Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide a functional, personalized gaming experience. Here is a full breakdown:

We do not collect your real name, phone number, physical address, raw credit/debit card number, bank account details, or biometric data. Payment processing is handled by Google Play, Apple App Store, or the relevant platform payment provider.

§ 02 How We Use Your Information

Your information is used exclusively for the following purposes:

  • Creating and managing your game account (guest or Google-linked)
  • Enabling real-time multiplayer functionality through Firebase and our Socket.IO game server
  • Displaying your username and avatar to other players in shared game rooms
  • Maintaining game statistics, win/loss records, and leaderboard rankings
  • Managing coins, coin history, daily rewards, missions, achievements, UNO Pass progress, and unlocked cosmetics
  • Processing, validating, and restoring in-app purchases and paid pass access
  • Sending in-app notifications about room invites or game events (no push notifications without permission)
  • Serving advertisements through Google AdMob (see Section 6)
  • Recording crash reports, diagnostics, and analytics to improve stability and gameplay quality
  • Detecting and preventing abuse, cheating, or fraudulent activity
  • Improving app performance through aggregated, anonymized analytics

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your payment details for profiling, and we do not use your data for marketing purposes unrelated to Tano.


§ 03 Data Storage & Firebase

All user data is stored and processed using Google Firebase infrastructure, which includes:

  • Firebase Authentication — Manages login sessions (Google OAuth + anonymous guest sessions)
  • Cloud Firestore — Stores user profiles, game statistics, leaderboard data, app configuration, purchases, coins, rewards, cosmetics, achievements, and pass progress
  • Firebase Realtime Database — Manages live game state, room data, player presence, and real-time events
  • Firebase Analytics — Helps us understand app usage and feature performance in aggregate
  • Firebase Crashlytics — Collects crash and diagnostic reports to help us fix bugs
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging — Supports notifications where available and permitted

Online multiplayer may also use a Socket.IO game server to process room membership, player presence, match state, current turn data, card counts, and connection status. The server does not need your payment card details.

Firebase data may be stored on servers located in the United States or other countries where Google operates infrastructure. By using this app, you consent to cross-border data transfer consistent with Google's data processing policies.

We use Hive (a local NoSQL database) to store certain data on your device, including:

  • Cached profile and game settings
  • Offline game state snapshots
  • App preferences such as sound, theme, notification settings, and local gameplay cache

Local Hive data never leaves your device and can be cleared by uninstalling the app.


§ 04 Guest Users

You may play as a Guest without providing any personal information. Guest sessions use Firebase Anonymous Authentication, which generates a temporary UID.

Guest accounts are temporary. If you uninstall the app, clear app data, or log out, your guest session and all associated game data (stats, rank) will be permanently lost. We recommend linking your account with Google Sign-In to preserve your progress.
  • Guest users are shown more advertisements than registered users
  • Guest profiles display a generated username (e.g. Guest_4821)
  • Guest users can participate in all game modes including multiplayer lobbies

§ 05 Google Sign-In

When you sign in with Google, we receive the following data from your Google account:

  • Your Google display name
  • Your Google account email address
  • Your Google profile picture URL
  • A unique Google identifier (sub claim)

We do not receive your Google password, payment methods, contacts, calendar, or any other Google data. Google's own privacy policy governs how they handle your authentication data. You can review it at policies.google.com/privacy.

You may revoke this app's access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account settings under "Third-party apps with account access."


§ 06 Advertising (AdMob)

This app uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and use certain data to show relevant ads, including:

  • Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android)
  • General location data (country/region level — not precise GPS)
  • Device type, operating system version, and screen size
  • App interaction data (ad views, clicks)

On iOS, we request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission before showing personalized ads. You may opt out at any time in your device Settings under Privacy → Tracking. Non-personalized ads will continue to be shown if you decline.

Ad types shown in this app:

  • Banner Ads — Static banner at the bottom of home and lobby screens
  • Interstitial Ads — Full-screen ads shown after completing every 2–3 games (never during gameplay)
  • Rewarded Ads — Optional ads you choose to watch for in-game benefits (e.g. skip a penalty draw)

Ads are never shown during active gameplay to avoid disruption.


§ 07 Purchases, Coins & Virtual Items

Tano includes optional in-app purchases and virtual items. These may include coin packs, card skins, table themes, avatar frames, badges, victory animations, UNO Pass or seasonal pass access, and other digital rewards.

  • Payments are processed by Google Play, Apple App Store, or the relevant platform payment provider. We do not receive or store your full credit card number, bank details, or payment account password.
  • We may receive purchase metadata such as product ID, purchase token, transaction ID, purchase status, purchase time, platform, and verification response.
  • We use purchase data to unlock purchased items, grant coins or pass access, restore previous purchases, show purchase history, provide support, and prevent fraud or duplicate claims.
  • Coins, skins, themes, badges, pass rewards, and other virtual items have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for real money.
  • Refunds, chargebacks, and payment disputes are handled according to the policy of the app store or payment platform used for the purchase.
  • If your account is deleted, banned for serious rule violations, or permanently lost as a guest account, access to account-linked virtual items may also be lost unless restoration is available through the app store and our records.

§ 08 Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Data is shared only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Google Firebase — Our backend infrastructure provider processes data as described in Section 3
  • Google AdMob — Advertising data as described in Section 6
  • Google Play / Apple App Store / platform payment provider — Purchase validation, payment processing, receipt restoration, refunds, and fraud checks
  • Socket.IO hosting / backend infrastructure — Multiplayer room state, player presence, connection status, and real-time gameplay events
  • Other players in the same game room — Your display name, avatar, and card count are visible to other players during a game session only
  • Legal requirements — If required by applicable law, court order, or governmental authority

In-game data visible to other players (name, avatar, card count) is shared solely to enable gameplay. No other personal data is shared with other users.


§ 09 Children's Privacy

This app is intended for users aged 4 years and older (ESRB / PEGI rating: Everyone). However, users under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK) should use this app only with parental consent in accordance with applicable laws including COPPA and GDPR-K.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us immediately at the email address provided below and we will delete such information promptly.

Guest mode is available without any personal data collection, which is the recommended mode for younger users.

§ 11 Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Right of Rectification — Correct inaccurate profile information (editable within the app)
  • Right of Erasure — Request deletion of your account and all personal data
  • Right to Restrict Processing — Request limitation of how your data is processed
  • Right to Data Portability — Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Right to Withdraw Consent — Withdraw consent for advertising tracking at any time via device settings
  • Right to Object — Object to processing based on legitimate interests

§ 12 Security

We implement the following security measures to protect your data:

  • All data transmitted to/from Firebase is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2+
  • Firebase Security Rules restrict database access so users can only read/write their own data
  • Admin and server credentials are not intentionally exposed to other users and should not be shared publicly
  • Authentication tokens are managed by Firebase and rotate automatically
  • Local Hive data is stored in the app's sandboxed storage, inaccessible to other apps
  • Purchase tokens are used for verification and support, not for collecting raw card or bank details

§ 13 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we make significant changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
  • Show an in-app notification informing users of the change
  • For material changes, request re-acceptance before continued use

Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

§ 01 Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Tano ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Alok Maurya ("Developer", "we", "us"). These Terms apply to all versions of the App including Android, iOS, and Web.

These Terms include an important limitation of liability clause in Section 10. Please read it carefully.

§ 02 Eligibility

  • You must be at least 4 years old to use this app
  • Users under 13 must have verifiable parental consent (COPPA compliance)
  • Users under 18 must have parental or guardian consent where required by local law
  • You must not be previously banned from the App by administrative action
  • You must comply with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction

§ 03 Account Registration

You may use the App as a Guest (anonymous) or by signing in with your Google Account. By creating an account, you agree that:

  • Your username must not be offensive, impersonating, or violate any third party's rights
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
  • You will not share your account credentials with others
  • You will notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
  • One person may not maintain multiple accounts simultaneously to gain unfair advantage

We reserve the right to remove or modify usernames that violate these Terms.


§ 03A Purchases & Virtual Items

Tano is free to download and play, but may offer optional purchases and virtual items. These may include coin packs, UNO Pass or seasonal pass access, card skins, table themes, avatar frames, badges, victory animations, extra matches, and other digital rewards.

  • All real-money purchases are processed by Google Play, Apple App Store, or another platform payment provider. Their payment, refund, cancellation, and family purchase rules apply.
  • Virtual currency and digital items are licensed for personal use inside Tano only. They have no cash value, are not legal tender, and cannot be sold, transferred, exchanged, or redeemed for real money.
  • Coins and rewards may be earned through gameplay, ads, missions, events, achievements, daily rewards, or purchases. We may adjust rewards, pricing, availability, and balancing to maintain fair gameplay.
  • Purchase restoration depends on app store records, account state, and our verification data. Keep your store receipt or order ID for support.
  • Chargebacks, refunds, suspicious transactions, duplicate claims, or payment fraud may cause related items or coins to be removed from your account.
  • Unless required by law or app store policy, purchases are final once the digital item has been delivered or consumed.

§ 04 Acceptable Use

You agree not to engage in any of the following:

  • Cheating, exploiting bugs, using bots or automated tools to gain unfair advantage
  • Harassing, abusing, or threatening other players via in-game chat or any other means
  • Sending spam, phishing links, or malicious content through in-game chat
  • Attempting to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the App's source code
  • Using the App for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
  • Interfering with or disrupting the App's servers, networks, or Firebase infrastructure
  • Impersonating other users, developers, or administrators
  • Manipulating leaderboard data or game results through unauthorized means
  • Creating or distributing modified versions of the App

Violation of these rules may result in immediate account suspension or permanent ban at our sole discretion.


§ 05 Gameplay & Rules

Tano implements an UNO-style card game ruleset, with optional house rules configurable by room hosts and administrators. By playing, you acknowledge:

  • Game rules may be modified by the admin at any time — changes apply to new rooms
  • If you disconnect or exit a game room unexpectedly, you will be marked as "quit" and your turn will be skipped
  • Rooms with no activity are automatically closed after 10 minutes of inactivity; waiting rooms are closed after 2 minutes
  • Game statistics and leaderboard scores are calculated and stored automatically; we do not manually adjust scores
  • The Developer is not responsible for internet connectivity issues that affect gameplay
  • Admin may force-end any game room at any time for moderation or technical reasons

§ 06 Intellectual Property

All content in the App — including but not limited to design, code, graphics, animations, game logic, and branding — is the intellectual property of the Developer.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App.


§ 07 User Content

"User Content" refers to any information you provide within the App, including usernames and chat messages. You retain ownership of your User Content but grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and moderate it within the App.

You agree that your User Content will not:

  • Contain hate speech, threats, or discriminatory language
  • Include personal information of other individuals without consent
  • Violate any third party's intellectual property rights
  • Contain adult, explicit, or otherwise inappropriate content

We reserve the right to remove any User Content and take appropriate action against the responsible user.


§ 08 Termination & Bans

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban any user account, with or without notice, for any violation of these Terms or for conduct we determine to be harmful to the community.

Grounds for termination include, but are not limited to:

  • Cheating or exploiting game mechanics
  • Harassing or abusing other players
  • Attempting to compromise the App's security or infrastructure
  • Creating multiple accounts to evade a ban
  • Any behavior determined to be detrimental to fair gameplay or community standards

Upon termination, you lose access to all game data, statistics, progress, virtual currency, pass progress, and digital items associated with the account. We are not obligated to refund any value associated with a terminated account except where required by law or app store policy.

If you believe a ban was issued in error, you may appeal by emailing us with subject line BAN APPEAL — [Your UID].


§ 09 Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

  • The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or bug-free
  • Game data will be preserved indefinitely or never lost
  • The App will be compatible with all devices or operating system versions
  • Firebase or third-party services will maintain continuous uptime

We are not responsible for any losses, including game progress loss, resulting from service interruptions, Firebase outages, or device failures.


§ 10 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF GAME PROGRESS, LOSS OF VIRTUAL ITEMS, OR DEVICE DAMAGE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US THROUGH THE APP FOR THE SPECIFIC PURCHASE GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM IN THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR ₹0 IF NO PURCHASE WAS MADE.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability. In such cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.


§ 11 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts located in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Users in other jurisdictions are responsible for compliance with their local laws.


§ 12 Miscellaneous

  • Entire Agreement — These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and the Developer regarding the App
  • Severability — If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect
  • No Waiver — Failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of such right
  • Assignment — You may not assign your rights under these Terms; we may assign ours without restriction
  • Updates — We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use constitutes acceptance

Ads are NEVER shown during active gameplay. Interstitials only appear after a game completes, on the game-over screen. Your game experience is never interrupted.

§ 02 Ad Targeting & Personalization

Google AdMob may serve personalized or non-personalized ads depending on your consent and device settings.

  • Personalized Ads — Based on your interests, app usage, and other signals from Google's ad network. Requires your consent on iOS (ATT prompt)
  • Non-Personalized Ads — Contextual ads not based on personal profiles. Shown when personalization is declined

You can control ad personalization through:

  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → toggle off for Tano
  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID or opt out
  • Web: Google's Ad Settings at adssettings.google.com

§ 03 Guest vs. Registered Users

  • Registered (Google) users — See interstitial ads every 3 completed games
  • Banner ads are shown equally to all users
  • Rewarded ads are available to all users who choose to watch them

This section documents the official and house rules implemented in Tano. Administrators may enable or disable house rules for all rooms through the Admin Dashboard.

§ 01 Official Rules (Always Active)

  • Full 112-card deck (76 number + 24 action + 12 wild cards)
  • Each player is dealt 7 cards at game start
  • Match cards by color, number, or symbol
  • Wild cards can be played at any time
  • Wild Draw Four (+4) can only be played legally when you have no matching color card
  • Players must say "UNO" when they have one card remaining — penalty is 4 drawn cards if caught
  • First player to play all their cards wins the round
  • Scoring: number cards = face value; action cards = 20pts; wild cards = 50pts
  • First player to reach 500 points wins the game

§ 03 Disconnect & Fair Play Policy

  • If a player disconnects for any reason, they are marked as "quit" and their turn is automatically skipped
  • A disconnected player's cards are removed from the game
  • If only one active player remains after disconnections, they automatically win
  • Inactive rooms are automatically disposed: waiting rooms after 2 minutes, active games after 10 minutes
  • Attempting to manipulate disconnects to gain advantage is considered cheating and may result in a ban
